Application Notes

The lens was fitted to a Canon 5D2 using a readily available M42 (x1.0) to Canon EF adapter. It focused to infinity reliably and with no mirror clearance issues at all.

The aperture on the Industar 50-2 is set manually and there is no aperture linkage or switch which needs to be activated by the adapter to close the aperture. The aperture ring is the threaded ring at the front of the lens and is relatively difficult to use without accidentally changing focus at the same time. It is a clumsy design. If any filters are used then they would effectively be threaded into the aperture ring, making it difficult to use a polarising filter as the filter would be affected if either the aperture or focus is changed.
